From the Editor – Spring 2013
The words that come to my mind when I think about this season are “The Beauty of Spring.” I think about the beautiful flowers, particularly tulips (the reason for the cover picture). In my mind’s eye, I can see the trees budding, grass growing and the birds flying. But the reality is… most of spring is not that pretty. It can be muddy from the rain or even snowy if you live in the north. The ground is far from beautiful. It takes a few months for spring to become truly beautiful and by the time it fully happens, it is summer.
But that is “spring’s” job. Spring is not here to be beautiful in and of itself. The biggest function of spring is to transition from winter to summer. That transition can be ugly sometimes. That transition can be filled with unpredictable and severe weather. But when it is all said and done, it produces a gorgeous backdrop in nature. It is that gorgeous backdrop that we remember and associate with spring.
Sometimes the transitions in our lives may be “ugly”. Perhaps things are not quite working out as you had planned. Don’t despair. Be encouraged and know that this time of spring in your life will yield a gorgeous backdrop. Hopefully, you will look back on this season and remember the positive outcomes.
In this issue, we are privileged to have some awesome writers with very thought provoking messages.
